Rolling along...

Awesome painting by Julian Peri. Hand claps provided by Warren. Strange faces provided by Jamie.

Fun at the 8x10

It's been a busy week for Secret Language. Last Tuesday we played one of our favorite local venues, The 8x10, as part of Bridging The Music's local showcase. We got about as many people out as you would expect on a depressingly cold Tuesday night, which was to say a TON (am I serious or sarcastic? You'll never know!). All kidding aside we were surprised not only by the number of people who came out on such a dreary night, but by the sheer enthusiasm they had for every band that played. Not only was hearing the crowd chant along as we ripped through "Ghostbusters" awesome, but it also rendered Warren's shirt completely irrelevant.

While sadly we didn't win the showcase, we were able to take solace in the fact that the band that did win (Primitivity) completely annihilated their set. With a showcase judged mostly on ticket sales you run the risk of it becoming a popularity contest, but in this case I don't think any of us had a problem conceding defeat to them. Do yourself a favor and check them out.

Que pasa?

This weekend we'll be playing out a little closer to home at Chapalas in Burtonsville. Not only will you get to see four great bands for the price of one but you'll also get some of the best Mexican food this side of I don't know where (just take my word for it, it's damn good). The show kicks off at 9pm with our friends Vinny Vegas, if you haven't checked them out you can should do so right now by clicking on the video below, again just take my word for it that it'll be worth it. Secret Language will be closing out the show but make sure you get there early to come hang out with us and watch some great local bands. Hope to see everyone there!

We've got one additional show coming at the end of February in Columbia and have a bunch more that we'll hopefully be announcing soon, along with some other exciting stuff coming down the pipe (disclaimer: Your interpretation of the word "exciting" may not be in line with Secret Language's definition of said word). Hopefully we'll see you all out Saturday night!

Last Second Show Announcement: We're playing the 8x10!

Howdy folks! Just wanted to throw up a quick announcement that we've been invited to participate in a local band showcase being held by Bridging the Music this coming Tuesday at The 8x10 in Baltimore. It's a battle of the bands style show so we'll be competing with 7 other bands for some free studio time among other goodies. We're judged in large part based on our attendance so if you want to show your support for us be there and tell them you're there for Secret Language (or order a ticket for using the link below)! It'll be a fun opportunity for us to jam on the stage of one of our favorite local venues so hopefully we'll see some of you all out there to jam along with us. Full details below!

Show updates

Happy New Year everyone! To celebrate the new year I wanted to throw together a quick post to announce some upcoming shows. First up we'll be playing at Chapala Blue Beetle Rock Bar with  Vinny Vegas, Stillglow and Maid Myriad (coming all the way from Akron, OH!) on Saturday, February 2nd starting at 8pm. Still finalizing some details but we'll be playing a longer set to close out the night. It's a great group of bands and should prove to be an awesome night of music so don't miss it!

Later in the month on Friday, February 22nd we'll be returning to Second Chance Saloon in Columbia. Not only will we be playing on the main stage but we'll also be playing four hours of music, so expect us to pull out all the stops (by which I mean expect to hear Matt play the recorder). Music starts at 9pm, no cover as per usual.

So that's all for now. We'll check in soon with more details on upcoming shows and an update from the studio. Stay tuned!
