It's been such a long time...

So as you may or may not have noticed we haven't updated this blog in quite a while. The lack of recent activity is a combination of laziness on my part, a lack of anything notable to write about, and life becoming increasingly busy (not in a bad way). Now that we're getting closer to the holidays and things are beginning to settle down a bit I feel it's as good a time as ever to start actively updating this blog again. It also helps that we have a literal ton of stuff to share with you guys (literally, Matt was crushed by the sheer weight of this "stuff") so it should be easier to find a few words every week or two to keep this page updated.

So first up...

Back in October we played a show for our friends the Folkins at their house in Columbia. It's the second year in a row we've played a show at their house in October so you can kind of call it an annual tradition. By the end of the night we had played for four and half hours, playing over thirty five songs across three sets spread throughout the day. On top of that we managed to record EVERYTHING! Rather than go the same route we've gone in the past and post the full four hours of material on the Archive we've decided to be a little more selective with these recordings. While releasing the whole thing may be a possibility at some point in the future right now we're focusing a bit more on quality over quantity. I feel I should emphasize the point on quality here as, having listened to what we have so far, the quality is pretty damn good. I tip my hat to Brian for doing an excellent job setting up all our mics and running sound for the show, he did an excellent job and I can't wait for you all to hear the final product. While I don't have an estimate on when we'll be sharing the recordings I'm hoping it'll be sometime in the next few weeks, ideally before Christmas. We'll post an update here once we have more information so keep your eyes open.

In addition to the awesome recording we got at the Folkins show we were also fortunate enough to have our friends at Bittner Photography professionally photograph the vast majority of the show. While we can't share everything with you guys you will more than likely see their photos popping up around the site. You can do yourself a favor and by going to check out their website, they're awesome people who do great work and we really can't thank them enough for everything they've done for us.

In bigger news...

Recording in style!

We're recording an EP! Prior to the Folkins show we spent our practice time learning as much material as possible. This meant not only getting Elie and Warren up to speed on our full catalog of songs, but also learning several new originals and covers. Once we had every bit of material we could ever imagine under our belt we decided to completely switch gears, narrow down our song selection, and FOCUS in order to get ourselves ready to record. Compared to our last demo we're shooting for something a little more high quality. Not only are we sporting some fancy new equipment but we've enlisted some good friends to help us through the recording and mixing process, so hopefully the end result is substantially better than our previous self produced outing. We're still extremely early in the recording process having just laid down some of the first tracks last week, however we're all really excited about the whole process and can't wait to share something, anything, with all of you. As we work through the recording process I'll try to keep this page updated with info, pictures and maybe some behind the scenes video of Matt ruining Elie's takes (I kid, I kid... or do I?!?!?!).

Not seen in photo: Matt's cell phone and Jamie's laughter ruining this otherwise quality take.

So that's all for now, keep an eye out for our live demo in the coming weeks along with more info on our upcoming recording. We're going to start booking shows for early next year in the coming weeks so if you have any places you want us to play hit us up in the comments. Please note that if you tell us to come to your house we WILL come and we WILL eat all your food and drink all your beer, just a warning. Thanks for checking in and we'll see you next time.
